Coaster 2.4 The Saw
Very clever

Ingenious designs. Fascinating to fidget with once made.
They're easy to build, though sometimes the fit is a bit tight (sanding/filing helps).
I have bought some perspex disks cut to size (94mm diameter) to glue to the top, to make the coasters more drink-spill resistant.

Hi Andy, thanks for your kind review, glad you like the coaster designs, it's interesting about the perspex disks, we've actually thought about providing these with the coasters for the exact reason you mention, maybe it's something we should look into.

Coaster 1.1 The Bicycle
Lots of fun to make with the family

I bought 4 of these (2 of the bicycles, a letter T and a letter D) as Christmas stocking presents and we made them one evening as a family with my 2 young-adult sons. It's quite fiddly to do but the instructions are helpful and the cutting very accurate. Some alphabet letters naturally work better as gears than others (the Ts tend to stick!) and the four coasters when put together didn't quite engage each other as they were meant to, hence not quite 5 stars - but it was a great family activity and we now have 4 more attractive coasters that are conversation pieces.

Hi Hazel, many thanks for your great review! I'm glad that you and your family enjoyed making the coasters. Thanks for the constructive feedback, we'll take a close look at all the letters and see if there's anything we can do to improve the designs a little to prevent any issues with sticking. We do find some light sanding and also liberal application of the enclosed wax stick does tend to help matters a lot in this regard. I'm glad you found they made a for a fun family activity, that's great! best wishes, The MAD Factory team.

Intriguing Device

Had fun assembling one of these coasters. The online instructions were super clear and only the final step was a little tricky but it went together well. The mechanism works smoothly and it is a fun desk or table top toy.

Thanks very much Fran, I'm glad you had fun building the coaster. best wishes, The MAD Factory team

Well worth it

This is a great product and works well when together
The only reason for 4/5 rating is that it’s a challenge for children to compete due to the tight spacing for bits to fit into which is a challenge

Many thanks for your kind review Neil, and thanks for the feedback about the tight spacing, we will have a look into that. best wishes, The MAD Factory team

Coaster 2.1 The Kazaguruma

Bought one for each member of the family for Christmas, we enjoyed making them together. The parts of the central swirl part are a bit too thin to want to balance a drink on, but I didn’t really buy them as a coaster, bought more as a fun activity and fiddle toy

Thanks a lot for your kind review. The coasters certainly make for a great fiddle toy, however I would say that we have actually tested every single variant and they do indeed all stand up to placing a full drink on, they are surprisingly sturdy. I can understand your reluctance but rest assured they are completely fine for using for drinks. Best wishes, The MAD Factory team.
