Ross McSweeney
Hello, my name is Ross McSweeney and I am an Australian artist living in Japan. Since I was young, I have always been fascinated by things that move and the various ways in which we can make an object move through purely mechanical operation. I often look at natural movement such as rain drops falling in a puddle of water, ocean waves or grass blowing in the wind and wonder, can I make this out of wood?
After moving to Japan with limited space and time, I began creating laser cut models instead of using my regular wood working tools. I now like to create automatas and models using only pieces that are cut from wood, without relying on any other building materials.
I am a self taught model maker and am looking forward to creating many more new and never seen before automatas, kinetic sculptures and models.
