We saw this at the museum and it really tickled my friend so I have bought it as an Xmas gift. In view of this it's still in the box but it was amusing at the museum.

didn't know i had to solder and assemble it, will have to wait until i have spare time.

Didn't realise I had to build it myself. Never soldered before, but I bought a kit and managed to do it! Not a professional job though. My grandson loved it. I told him I found it under a tree and there was a Genie in it. Looking forward to my next project (marbles).

I noticed one of these online and just had to have one! This useless box has caused so much amusement from both adults and children. If you don't get it, you are overthinking it! The most useless box I have ever bought and in it's turn, it's the most useful in it's own way.

Went together beautifully (with a wee bit of fettling!). The return action could, however, do with being a bit slower.
I am, nevertheless, highly amused!
Sad, eh?

Love it. Great fun for all ages, grandchildren to grandparents. Only took a few hours to complete, ok, a small hiccup at the start finding the right instructions on the web, after that with help from the "mad" team - ok. There was a bit more soldering than I expected and some of this I found a bit fiddly. However the end result is worth it. I also found I had to adjust the seating of the micro switch to make it work but this is soon done. The box itself I found to be good quality and fitted together extremely well giving a nice final appearance. I intend to enhance mine with some feet and also will satin varnish the box and paint the "hand" to make it look a bit real! If you get anything else like it I am interested.

Totally useless. Great fun to build with good clear instructions. Have to play with it whenever I pass it.
Recommend as great fun for all the family.

Great. Easy to build and very satisfying to use.

Excellent concept. Kept the Grandchildren unused for ages!
Only had super glue, hence the dark lines.

Bought this as a present for my 43 year old son……….he enjoyed building the kit and wastes endless house amusing himself with the useless box

The quality is excellent and it was much more fun than buying an assembled useless box.
If you don’t have a useless box, you need one.

I didn't realise I had to make this myself. Once I bought a soldering iron and watched a few YouTube videos I made it and I was very chuffed it worked perfectly. Great fun kit!

Not absolutely straightforward to assemble (Instructions, like road signs, are always put up by people that know where they're going....) and needed a bit of fettling.
But it is fantastic. And adored by everyone that sees it. A genius bit of kit!
As my daughter said when she switched it on for the first time, " Hah! Just like Life'.
Love it to bits.

Great product! I got this for my dads birthday and he enjoyed building this and showing his grandchildren how funny and useless this box is.

Pretty easy to put together, wiring could be clearer. But got there in the end.

As mad as a box of frogs. Totally useless. My sister in France loves it. And put the frogs in it! and everyone who tries it thinks it’s fantastic.

As they have all sold out I have not yet managed to buy one however watching the video, looks entertaining, maybe one chance though - make it so the piece that pops out to turn it off a snakes head or an arrow head

Makes me laugh a lot and that alone makes it more than worth the money. As long as you have a sense of humour you will enjoy this, I'm sure.

This was given to me as a christmas present, my husband built it so I can't comment on that aspect, but he didn't seem to encounter any issues and the finished model works well and provides some good entertainment, especially for unwitting house guests.
Ian Denton-Bridges
Loved this from the moment I saw the video and just had to have one. Completely appeals to my inner child. Great for an easy laugh when friends or family are around
Roland Palmer
Just buy one, you won't regret it, I promise you! Easy enough to build and provides a brilliant point of conversation, my friends already want one for themselves

What a fabulous little kit!! Impressed with the originality of it, very different to anything I've bought or made before. Cracking idea!
Peter Chaplin
Bought for me as a b'day present - great piece of kit, very well thought out and accurately laser cut. Assembly was straightforward following the instructions and pieces fitted perfectly. Half the fun is assembling something which actually fits together as it should and appreciating the thought and effort put in to the design as assembly progresses. It sits on the table waiting for the gullible !

I've always loved Heath Robinson-style machines that do something complicated to achieve very little. MAD's new Useless Box is a little gem. It took a couple of hours to put together and the result is a pleasingly robust and utterly pointless contraption (if you discount the strangely addictive action of flicking the switch when you know exactly what's going to happen next). Sheer genius!

I recall buying something similar a few years ago but it was quite flimsy and broke after a few uses. I'd always had my eye on something a little more sturdy looking because these kits really do generate a good talking point and they are always great for a few laughs, especially with events like Christmas just around the corner.
Having seen this model on display at The MAD Museum over the half term holiday, and subsequently bought and built it (not difficult by the way), I'm pleased to report that it is a very robust little machine that has already withstood the stern test of what seems to be about a million activations by my two young boys.
Trust me if they haven't broken it yet, then nobody will. All in all, a highly entertaining little kit which is sure to put a smile on faces.
Roger Broadstone
Seen this type of thing before but only ever on youtube, was surprised and delighted to find that the chaps at MAD have decided to make and sell their own. Needless to say I didn't hesitate to purchase one, it's the sort of thing that I like, different and quirky with a good dose of humour. Looking forward to entertaining unsuspecting family and friends this Christmas, you will get a laugh out of everyone for sure.
